RIDE Goričko - Development of cycling in the Goričko region
The aim of the project is the development of the LAS Goričko area as a cycling destination for various target groups of cyclists, namely both for cyclists and tourists for whom cycling is the primary motive for visiting a particular destination, as well as for visitors whose secondary motive for visiting the destination is cycling, while they are primarily attracted to the destination by other activities.

The main aim of the project is the development of cycling tourism in the Goričko Local Action Group (LAG) area. The number of cycling tourists is increasing year on year, but the current offering does not meet their needs, and the potential for the development of cycling tourism remains underutilised, as there is still a lack of supporting infrastructure, equipment, content, products and services. The RIDE Goričko project identifies and builds upon the potential in this area and, through the development of supporting infrastructure, equipment, the introduction of ICT technology dedicated to cyclists and the addition of new content, promotes the development of cycling tourism as a form of sustainable mobility and business opportunities in the Goričko LAG area.
Goals:
- Conducting an analysis of the cycling tourism offering with the aim of preparing the first comprehensive database on cycling tourism infrastructure, the supply of services intended for cyclists, and promotional materials and activities, as well as conducting an analysis of the habits of (cycling) visitors in the LAS Goričko area
- To enhance the tourist appeal of the Goričko LAG area by increasing the number of cycling products to develop cycle tourism in the Goričko LAG area
- To improve the tourist appeal of the LAS Goričko area by increasing the number of cycling services for the development of cycle tourism in the LAS Goričko area, or by improving the area's equipment with cycling facilities and content.
- The economic independence of cycling tourism service providers
- Raising awareness and encouraging the local population to use bicycles and consequently reduce emissions into the atmosphere, as well as raising public awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility
- To increase the visibility of the LAS Goričko area as a cycling tourist destination
Results:
- New cycling tourism products in the LAS Goričko area (two new tourism products, visual identity, online booking portal, mobile app for guiding tourists)
- New services for cycling tourists in the Goričko LAG area (bike hire and mobile bike repair equipment)
- Production of promotional videos for cycling routes in the LAS Goričko area
- Production of educational programmes on the topic of the impact of cycling on human health and workshops for young people
